# Content optimization

> Review suggested changes to your content, edit your draft, and export it for publication.

**Content optimization** turns an Action for one of your pages into an editable draft you can work on directly in Peec AI. It highlights areas that could be improved and suggests changes to help optimize your content.

Open a Content optimization Action and click **Optimize content** to review the suggestions and edit your page directly in the workspace.

<Info>
  You’ll only see **Add content** and **Optimize content** when Content optimization is enabled for your account.
</Info>

## Add a page yourself

You don’t have to wait for Peec to surface a page for optimization. If you already know which page you want to improve, click **Add content** in the **Actions** header to create a **Content optimization** Action for that page.

To create the Action, provide:

* **A URL or a document:** Add the URL of a live page, such as `yoursite.com/page`, or upload a Markdown (`.md` or `.markdown`) file for content that hasn’t been published yet.
* **Page type:** Tell Peec AI what type of page it’s optimizing.
* **Topic and Prompt:** Choose the topic, then the prompt you want to optimize the page for. Only topics that already contain prompts can be selected.

<Tip>
  If the **WordPress** tab is available to your account, you can also connect your site and select an existing page or post to optimize.<br /><br />Click **Generate action** to create it. Once it’s ready, the Action will appear under **New**, where you can open it and start optimizing your content.
</Tip>

## Working through the workspace

Peec AI's suggestions appear on the left, with your page content on the right.

1. **Review the Suggestions tab:** Suggestions are grouped by passage. Click one to jump to the relevant part of your article and review the recommended change.
2. **Apply or dismiss a rewrite:** Use **Apply** to add a drafted change to your article, or **Dismiss** to keep the existing content. Suggestions that need new text can be worked through individually.
3. **Edit the content directly:** You can also rewrite a passage yourself using the rich-text editor. Select text to access the available formatting options.
4. **Check the Outline tab:** Review your article’s headings and click a heading to jump to that section. The outline reflects headings you add or change in the article.
5. **Review SEO checks when available:** The **SEO** tab shows checks from the source page, including which passed and which need attention. It only appears when the page has check results. Editing the article does not update these results.

<Tip>
  Click a suggestion in the panel to jump to and highlight the relevant passage in the article. You can also click a highlighted passage in the article to open its corresponding suggestion in the panel.
</Tip>

### The suggestions panel

* **Filter:** Switch between **To review**, **Applied**, and **Dismissed** to review suggestions based on their status. The heading above the list shows which set you’re viewing and how many suggestions it contains.
* **Apply:** Adds the suggested change to your article. **Dismiss** keeps your existing content instead.
* **Revert:** Appears after you’ve applied or dismissed a suggestion and lets you undo that decision, returning the suggestion to **To review**.

<Info>
  **Apply all** and **Dismiss all** appear in the **Suggestions** panel while you’re viewing **To review** and drafted rewrites remain. These controls handle the remaining drafted rewrites together.
</Info>

### Work with the Agent

If you have AI editing access, use **Work with AI** on a prepared rewrite or passage, or **Write with AI** when suggested content still needs writing. These controls prepare a request for the Agent with the relevant context. You can also select text in the article and choose **Ask AI**.

Review the request, add any instructions, and send it. The Agent can edit the draft in the workspace. Review the resulting changes before publishing.

## Work with your AI assistant

If you've connected your AI assistant through the [Peec AI MCP Server](/mcp/introduction), it can work through a Content optimization Action for you. It can read the article and its suggestions, apply or dismiss Peec's rewrites, and write the passages that suggestions only describe.

Ask it in plain language, such as *"Apply the pricing suggestions on our pricing page optimization"*, or run the [`peec_optimize_content`](/mcp/prompts#peec-optimize-content) prompt to work through everything that's pending. Your assistant's changes appear in the workspace as tracked edits under your name, and you can revert them like your own.

<Info>
  Reading an article works for any project member. Editing it needs company member access. See the [MCP tools reference](/mcp/tools#get-optimize-content) for details.
</Info>

## Export your content

When you’re ready to take your draft out of Peec AI:

* **Copy:** Copies the article as plain text to your clipboard.
* **Download:** Exports the article as **HTML (.html)** or **Plain text (.txt)**.

Apply the rewrites you want to keep before exporting. Suggestions you haven’t applied retain the original wording in the exported article.

If the article is linked to WordPress and publishing is available to your account, click **Publish to WordPress**. Choose **Save as draft** to keep the published page unchanged, or **Publish live** to replace it with the updated content.
